This course is inspired by the liberal spirit and the notion of its civic mission which guided the foundation of the Universidad de los Andes. This still vibrant spirit emphasizes the value especially of a broad humanistic education oriented towards the formation of critical values and ethical bearers of those values, which encompass and contextualize other courses dedicated to developing professional skills and abilities. Aiming to contribute to the formation of citizens familiar with a range of basic currents of thought out of which our own epoch has taken shape, this course explores the evolution and diversity of conservative political thought, particularly focusing on the second half of the 20th century.
